Spring is Here

I went to the Dallas Arboretum this past weekend and the place was PACKED with people. Pretty much every shot had a person in it. I was getting rather annoyed so to combat this I shot from an ants perspective. I just shoved my camera to the gound and pointed up. The first round of shots were pure luck but I made a few adjustments to the camera settings (F/16, 24mm, ISO 100) and tried again. I learned taking three shots slowly tilting further downwards each shot gave the best result. Gotta love digital - this allowed me take countless shots until I got a few I liked. I certainly got some weird looks from people (and other photograhpers) but so what? I have a shot they don't.

True Story: There is a koi pond that's a bit off the beaten path and I rarely see other photographers there so I headed there to get away from people. My plan didn't really work though. The large foot bridge over the pond gets a good amount of traffic. Parents and kids constantly scurrying about. Kids always stop their parents to look at the koi. This doesn't really bother me cause, well, I'm the moron taking a photo of the koi. Anyways, that's not even the worst part. So here I am, camera and tripod are ready. I've got the shot framed. I have to wait a bit for the kids to leave so I don't get their reflection. Again, no big deal. Then PLOP! What the hell? Some lady just dropped a DIAPER in the koi pond. A USED diaper. Right where I was shooting. "Woops", she says. "It was an accident", she says. WTF! Worst part is she doesn't even attempt to get the used diaper out of the koi pond! Seriously people?

Oh yeah...spring is here.
